Minister's Minute: Moving on

A final goodbye from Thomas Keeley

This is the final column in the Optimist for Thomas Keeley.

My first column for the “Minister’s Minute” was published on June 16, 2019.

It has been a privilege writing for the Delta Optimist from a faith perspective on a near monthly basis since then.

I have recently accepted a new call in Vancouver and will be leaving. This is my last article. I would like to commend publisher Matt Blair, and editor Ian Jacques for continuing to include the “Minister’s Minute” in this newspaper. It is indeed a rare thing these days for a secular newspaper to give space to a regular religious column.

I thank my colleagues in ministry who regularly contribute. God Bless you in your writing.

Thank you to the readers, and especially those who have responded, to what I have written. I am going to miss writing these.

I would also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful people of Benediction Lutheran Church, whom I have had the privilege of serving since 2015. The church’s motto is “blessed to be a blessing.”

I along with many others can attest that this congregation is indeed a blessing to this community.

Allow me to finish with the point I have been trying to make with different words in all my columns: God is real and God is for you! Hear the Good News! Jesus Christ died and rose for you! In Christ you will find divine forgiveness and eternal life. I proclaim this to you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
