Grades 8 and 9 track and field athletes are eligible to participate in the BC Summer Games.

Are you a 14- to 15-year-old track and field athlete interested in participating in the upcoming 2024 BC Summer Games?

If so, here are details on how you can get involved.

The BC Summer Games is an inaugural multi-sport event for track and field athletes and is set to take place in Maple Ridge from July 17 to 21.

Youth ages 14 to 15 are eligible to compete in athletics and represent Zone 5, which includes Delta.

The representatives of Zone 5 are hoping more Delta students will put their names in the hat.

To sign up for the selection process, athletes who don't have a BC Athletics membership can pay a non-member fee of $5, a one-time payment that will allow them to register for as many events as they like.

Athletes who are going through the performance-based route must register for a performance at a BC Athletics-sanctioned event or a BC School Sports Zone Championship meet.

For BC School Sports meets not sanctioned by BC Athletics, athletes must submit proof of the results on the BC Summer Games athlete declaration form.

The Delta zone high school championship is happening on May 8 to 9, and athletes who make it to the BC School Zone championships can submit their results to be eligible to compete at the BC Summer Games.

They just need to submit an Athlete Declaration form with their results at: https://tinyurl.com/ydvzf4b8.
