Susan Dyson remembers picking up a Lotto 6/49 ticket on Dec. 30 and thinking it would be nice to kick off the new year a little richer.
As it turns out, her numbers were up: The Vancouver resident picked up the $1 million Guaranteed Prize in the Jan. 1, 2022 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Dyson says she was enjoying a morning coffee at home with her husband when she found out she had won.
“I remember seeing that my account balance was very large, so I checked my tickets and got the notification saying $1-million. I just turned mutely to my husband and showed him my phone and we both didn’t say anything for a few seconds," Dyson recalls in a BCLC media release.
Her first purchase: A celebratory bottle of bubbly.
“It was a beautiful snowy day for a walk so we went out and also bought a bottle of champagne. We opened it that day!” says Dyson.
Dyson adds her plan is to invest her winnings.
