Twelve robbery charges have been laid after a lengthy Vancouver Police Department (VPD) investigation.
The probe was triggered after 12 Vancouver businesses in the downtown core and East Vancouver were robbed between June and December 2023.
“Our detectives worked for months to collect and analyze evidence, which linked the cases to a single suspect,” Const. Tania Visintin said. “With that important evidence, we were able to make an arrest and obtain criminal charges.”
Jason Burton Crawley, 29, was arrested on Dec. 22.
The BC Prosecution Service approved 12 counts of robbery.
Crawley was released on bail April 30. His next court appearance is May 22.
"We live in a time when small businesses are suffering," Visintin said. "To hold this person accountable will hopefully provide some peace and closure for the businesses."
Provincial court online documents show the charges include two June robberies, one in September, two in October, five in November and two in December.
