Vancouver Provincial Court. Two men, ages 22 and 23, were involved in an altercation on Feb. 3, 2024.

A B.C. man has been put on a peace bond and told to stay away from a Vancouver business operator after a dispute about the victim filming the man and friends as they put graffiti on a building.

On Nov. 20, Vancouver Provincial Court Judge Harbans Dhillon heard that Tyler Le Vo, 22, agreed the victim had reason to fear him and agreed to the bond.

Vo and Mathew Colin Rahn, 23, had initially been charged with assaulting the man who ran a business in the 500-block of Main Street.

Crown prosecutor Ellen Bolger told the court that Vo and some friends had been at the Ivanhoe Pub on Main Street on Feb. 3.

When they left, Bolger said, they began putting graffiti tags on a door. That’s when the victim began recording them and they stopped tagging.

However, they were not keen on having been recorded and followed the man. They demanded he delete the recording, at which point an altercation began.

On Nov. 14, the file was changed from the assault charge to the peace bond request.

The case had been set for trial.

Vo’s conditions include staying away from the victim and the 500-block of Main Street.

Rahn had pleaded not guilty and a stay of proceedings was entered for him on Nov. 18.
