A man has been charged in connection to the death of a Surrey man last month.
Surrey RCMP responded to a fight just before midnight on July 23 and found a man suffering multiple stab wounds.
Police identified Jason Richard Gill, 47, as the victim who died at the scene.
Witnesses watched the suspect flee the scene and at the time of the incident, police did not know if the two parties were known to each other or what the motivation for the incident was.
On Aug. 20, police have more information about the connection between the suspect and the victim, according to Cpl. Esther Tupper.
“Investigators believe that the parties were known to one another and that this was an isolated incident,” says Tupper.
William Alexander Clippingdale, 24, has been charged with second-degree murder.
“IHIT would like to thank the Surrey RCMP, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and the VPD Emergency Response Team for their support throughout the investigation,” says Tupper.
People who have information about the incident are asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at [email protected].
