A couple was injured and beaten with a baseball bat on Sunday morning after an alleged road rage incident in Mission.
Police are now asking for the public’s help to locate the suspects.
This appears to have been an extreme case of road rage, says Cpl. Harrison Mohr with Mission RCMP.
The couple was in the Tim Hortons drive-thru at Lougheed Highway and Cedar Valley Connector around 10 a.m.
They honked at the car in front of them and told police a black Chevrolet Malibu was not moving forward in the lineup.
Once they drove out of the drive-thru, the people in the other vehicle drove up beside them and the woman threw a coffee cup at their vehicle.
The couple told police the vehicle followed them for two kilometres until Bakerview Avenue and Cedar Street.
Two people got out of the Malibu and assaulted the couple with a baseball bat before driving off, according to Mission RCMP.
“I’m sure we’ve all seen someone in a drive-thru lane give a little honk to let the person in front know they can move up,” says Mohr. "No one expects to be assaulted as a result of it.”
A 21-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man from Mission were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police did find and seize the Malibu, but the people were not inside of it.
The two individuals have been identified by police. Mounties are releasing their photo in an effort to locate the pair.
The man is described as being in his 30s with a medium build and a full beard. The woman, meanwhile, is also in her 30s with short blond hair. She has a sleeve tattoo on her left arm and a tattoo on her right thigh.
"We wish both victims a full and speedy recovery, and are working on locating and arresting the suspects,” says Mohr.
The sister of one of the victims says the vehicle was a rental with Alberta plates.
"I just want these people caught and to pay for this! My sister is the sweetest girl ever and is not into any trouble and never has been. Her boyfriend also is the sweetest guy,” wrote Maddy Parkhill on social media.
