Fall is officially underway, painting Vancouver in pretty red, orange, and yellow hues.
The autumn colours are an annual spectacle that is as quick to fade as it is to arrive, so locals wanting to capture some fall moments and sight-see colourful foliage may want to do so soon.
Here are some of the prettiest autumn spots in Vancouver.
Gastown
Although this neighbourhood is often regarded as a cheesy tourist attraction, that is exactly what makes this quaint part of town so alluring during the fall season. The picturesque cobblestone streets, old-timey lamp posts, literal brick-and-mortar stores, and even the infamous steam clock make for an awe-inspiring backdrop complete with fiery leaves.
Sylvia Hotel
This historic Vancouver building has its secrets. It's also known for boasting a green, ivy-covered facade that fades into bursts of orange and yellow during autumn. Whether it's to snap a pretty photo or to simply goggle at this cool building, the Sylvia is a great place to check out on a sunny autumn day.
Stanley Park
The "Crown Jewel of Vancouver" topped a list of key stops for tourists visiting the city, and it makes sense why. The park's beautiful scenery draws in locals and visitors alike year-round, from spring's blossoms to autumn's warm-toned trees. During the fall season, the Lost Lagoon and Devonian Harbour Park at the park's entrance near Georgia and Denman streets offer beautiful landscapes. However, anywhere in Stanley Park is just as pretty.
West 10th Ave
Vancouver has several "tree tunnel" streets, mainly around the Kitsilano neighbourhood. One of these streets is a stretch of West 10th Avenue between MacKenzie and Alma streets, where tall trees loom over homes with giant canopies that have a movie-like feel in the fall.
Marguerite Street
While not exactly an impressive "tree tunnel," this street is still lined with trees. Even if the residential backdrop is too ordinary for photos, Marguerite Street makes for a tranquil autumn walk.
Cambridge Street
Every year, this part of the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood fills with photographers trying to get the perfect shot along the maple leaf-strewn road. There's a reason that this street gets so much foot traffic in the fall, and that is the bright red tree canopies overlooking the street. It's a local gem!
UBC
The university town isn't actually considered part of Vancouver, but it's very close and has its own autumn charm that's worth seeing. Places like the UBC Botanical Garden and UBC's Main Hall are pretty sights, whether that is for a lovely stroll or for some fall photos.
