The rain held off until right at the end of evening on June 17 and a good time was had by all despite the cool weather.

The fourth Annual Cheers for Children multi-band concert fundraiser benefiting children with needs at Reach Child and Youth Development Society held at Tsawwassen Southlands received rave reviews from attendees. Four Winds Brewing Company made the event possible and invited fellow breweries to participate as well as sourcing food trucks and the headlining musical acts – Dead Ghosts, Rocket Revellers and Moving City.

A little over $35,000 was raised at the fundraiser.

Previous Cheers for Children fundraisers were held inside at Harris Barn but keeping COVID-19 safety in mind, organizers felt that this year’s event needed to be outside.

Four Winds Brewing co-owner Adam Mills, Creative Director Justin Longoz, Tasting Room Manager Seamus Munns and prior Reach Society Development Manager Kristin Bibbs saw the potential to expand the reach of the event with the capacity that the outside venue could accommodate. With this in mind, they worked closely with Christine Grange, Southlands Destination Manager, to plan the services and safety measures in place to create a seamless event for a large crowd.

Southlands Grange sponsored the venue for Cheers for Children and other gold sponsors included Valley Tech, Quarterhorse, Desolation Sound Resort, GML Mechanical and Inbox 15B. Volunteers from Reach, Four Winds, Tsawwassen Rotary and Ladner Tsawwassen Kinsmen clubs helped with set-up, selling raffle and drink tickets as well as take-down at the end of the evening. Delta Police officers attended and Med Tech EMS donated first aid services. Cheers for Children was a local event on a large scale, with 800 tickets sold, that was enjoyed responsibly by the community.

“It's an honour to be able to use our platform to host an exciting new event in our hometown to raise money Reach,” said Mills. “It's first and foremost about helping children and families in need, but it’s also about making space where we can connect people, entertain and celebrate. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped to make a difference in our community.”

Reach executive director Renie D’Aquila expressed gratitude to Four Winds Brewing for their generosity and hard work.
