Here is your list of Christmas holiday light displays

There are lots of wonderful light displays throughout South Delta

The Optimist’s annual tradition of listing some of the best Christmas light displays in the community continues in 2023.

Below are submissions from residents as well as some others we have collected from others in the community. Thanks to everyone who submitted.

Merry Christmas!

Tsawwassen

Paul and Sabrina Donohoe – 320 Rosehill Wynd. This display always impresses with their huge display of lights and inflatables.

Emmanuel Factor – 1044 English Bluff Rd. It took 10 full days from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day to put up this display. This is the 19th year for Emmanuel to put up his display. He says it grows every year.

Benno and Corinne Bucher - 5875 Vardon Place in Beach Grove. “We have a Garden Christmas Train Display, “Bucherville” with a mountain and cable cars and a Swiss village, along with the North Pole and Santa’s workshop, a Victorian village and a wilderness area. It has taken us 25 years to get to where the display is now. Benno is the engineer and works on the trains, tracks and cable cars. Corinne sources and arranges the houses and villages, and their neighbour Jennifer details the scenes with the characters, to make them come alive!”

Sina LePage emailed us and suggested 53A Street with lots of decorated houses.

Carleen Lewall emailed us and suggested the 5100 -block of Wallace Avenue, as looking very festive and nicely decorated.

Peter Dandyk emailed us and suggested the Rozmusses’ display at 5285 11th Ave. Dandyk says the display gets a little nicer each year. In addition to the lights, there are dozens of wooden, handcrafted and hand-painted Christmas figures, both traditional and humorous.

Diefenbaker Park. The Gift of Light presented by the Tsawwassen Rotary Club is always worth a visit.

Southlands. The lights at the Southlands are wonderful this year and several homes in the area have also got into the holiday spirit with their light displays.

Tsawwassen Springs. The 2023 Festival of Lights at Tsawwassen Springs The festival runs until Jan. 1 from 4 p.m. daily.

Realtor Brooke Alexander put together this list as submitted to her by area residents: 1600-block of Braid Road, 1400 Gillespie Rd., 476 Milsom Wynd, Camaro Drive and 1705 Spyglass Cres.

Ladner

Steve and Michelle Shardlow - 5464 Maple Cres. “My wife and I have added a little bit each year to our display. We love the look of the lights and want to have a display that everyone enjoys, so we do it for our own love of decorating and to have a display everyone enjoys.”

Several residents on this street including Rose Easthom and Joyce D’Souza emailed us about Candy Cane Lane (55A Street). Christmas light displays have become a beloved tradition on this street. The inspiration is the love of Christmas and the joy and smiles the lights and decor bring to little kids in the neighborhood. It’s a perfect spot for a nice evening stroll enjoying some hot chocolate or perhaps capturing some family photos.

Evan Pighin - 4923 44B Ave. “It’s become an annual tradition for me to put up this light display for Christmas. It took me about four to five weeks to put all the lights up this year. I’ve added a flowing river with reindeer, and a 10-foot twinkling green Christmas tree with presents. Throughout the display there are more than 20,000 lights.”

John Kroeker - 6218 Dawn Drive. “There are about 2,000 lights in total including about 1,000 lights wrapped around one of my trees. The lights are synchronized to music, which is broadcast on a low power FM transmitter at a frequency of 91.1 FM. This year, I have different playlists on odd and even days. Each playlist consists of seven songs. The duration of each playlist is on the order of 20 minutes. The playlists repeat continuously from sunset to 10:30 p.m. The display was setup over three days. I was inspired by a colleague who had a similar type of display on the North Shore, and I didn’t know of anyone doing something similar in our area, so I thought it would be fun to give it a try.”

Meiric and Kathy Preece - 5374 46th Ave. “Meiric puts up all the lights and decorations by himself. He starts in mid-November as it takes him many, many hours. He loves doing it not only for us to enjoy, but in hopes it will bring others joy.”

Delta Hospital and Mountain View Manor. Six Rotary Club of Ladner members, plus three friends of Rotary, have lit up Delta Hospital’s main entrance for the Christmas season along with the central Healing Garden off the main entrance and the entrance to Mountain View Manor.
