At home, people in our community less able to afford the rapidly rising cost of food for themselves and their families, and in Ukraine and nearby countries, millions of desperate residents and refugees struggling to survive, will benefit from the Rotary Club of Ladner's Spring Shred-A-Thon, which was held on April 2.
Thanks to generous Delta residents who showed up at the site on Ladner Trunk Road, with boxes of paper for confidential shredding by a Shred-Wise truck, and event sponsors, Ideal Door Ltd., Envision Financial and Millennium Pacific, the event raised a net total of $2,553, to be split entirely between the two causes. Also making the event a success were Ladner Rotary volunteers.
“Nothing can be more important to families and individuals than a hand up with the cost of food right now,” said Ladner Rotary Club president Denis Denischuk. “No people are more desperate right now than millions of people struggling to survive in many Ukrainian communities and in bordering countries as refugees. We are grateful to the people of Delta and our sponsors who have supported these two causes, representing the huge range of local through international needs Rotary addresses every year.”
