Cougar Canyon Elementary students were treated to a day of reading from some special celebrity guests on Thursday.
Students Delta donned their pajamas and got comfy in their classrooms for Reading Day. More than 30 guest readers, including Deputy Mayor Dylan Kruger, local author Greg Tjosvold, Delta School District board trustee Daniel Boisvert, and representatives from the Delta police and fire departments, visited classrooms throughout the day to share their love of reading with students.
Each guest reader brought along their choice of book to share with the students. As well as helping to encourage students to read, Reading Day provides a great opportunity for elementary students to ask questions of the guest readers and learn a little more about their work in the community.
Also on hand was reporter Jordan Armstrong from Global TV, Michael Kuss from News 1130 as well as Susan Yao from the Delta Teachers' Association and Nancy Gordon from the Delta School District.
