Cubetto is a friendly wooden robot that teaches children the basics of computer programming through stories and hands-on play. There are no screens to stare at and no reading to do – perfect for young children, ages three and up.

Delta libraries have a number of upcoming programs as it’s never too early to begin learning logic and coding:

Come visit the library for STEAM fun with Ozobots.  No previous experience necessary. Children between the ages of eight and 10 are invited to visit the Tsawwassen Library for Fun with Ozobots and Keva on Friday, Feb. 7 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Using visual coding and Keva Planks, create a town for these little robots to roam and explore.

The George Mackie Library welcomes children between the ages of eight and 10 to have fun by finding food for Hungry, Hungry Ozobots on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 2 to 3 p.m. See how much your Ozobot can eat!

Registration is required for both programs. Visit Events Page at www.fvrl.ca to register online.

If you are between the ages of 10 and 12, register for one of these fun challenges at a Delta Library near you. No previous Ozobot experience necessary.  In this Ozobot game challenge, put your coding and bowling skills to the test with Bowling with Ozobot on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library or on Friday, Feb. 28 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Library. Use colour codes to change the Ozobot’s speed and experiment with cool moves to knock down the bowling pins.

Visit the Tsawwassen Library on Friday, Feb. 14 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for an Ozobot Dance Party. Using Ozoblockly we will code these mini robots to perform a dance routine. Visit Events Page at www.fvrl.ca to register online.

For the younger crowd, sign up for Code and Colour with Cubetto at the Tsawwassen Library on Friday, Feb. 21 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Learn how to code Cubetto to draw and then colour your artwork. Program is for children three to five and their caregivers. Registration is required. Visit Events Page at www.fvrl.ca to register online.

And lastly, check out the Cubetto Storytime at the George Mackie Library on the third Saturday of the month.  Drop in on Satruday, Feb. 15 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. for a fun, hands-on storytime.
