Get Christmas crafty at your local library

When do you start the Christmas season? Whenever it is, kick off the holidays at the Delta libraries.

Make attending one of their crafting programs part of this year’s tradition.

Join fellow artist and crafters at the Ladner Pioneer Library for a paper-crafting themed Creative Collaborations on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Create some homemade cards and more. Learn new techniques and ways of making. Each session will combine a making activity sourced from Fraser Valley Regional Libraries’ Kanopy or CreativeBug resources, which offer a wealth of creative inspiration. Basic materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring painting or drawing materials if preferred. All experience levels welcome, suitable for ages 18 and up. Registration is required.

Design and create your own festive wreath at Get Crafty on Monday, Nov. 27, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Library. Foliage, seasonal embellishments and ribbon will be provided while supplies last. Wreath making is a fun and simple activity that anyone can do and is the perfect festive meet up for friends and families. Just bring yourself and your holiday spirit! Get Crafty is a drop-in program offered Mondays and Fridays until Dec. 15.

Join George Mackie Library staff on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 2 to 3 p.m. for Christmas card making. Have fun making some creative handmade Christmas cards.

Come early (or stay later) for Upcycling Home Décor from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Decorate an old wooden hanger and transform it into a decorative and functional item you’ll be proud to display. There will be options to make them seasonal too. Bring a wooden hanger, an old pillow case and tea towel.

Check out these holiday STEAM activities your young engineers may enjoy at the Ladner Pioneer Library.

On Thursday, Dec. 14, from 3:15 to 4 p.m. kids ages six to nine can participate in STEAM Starters. The activity will be art and paper crafting for the holidays. Please note that parent/caregiver/guardian must remain within the library facilities during the program. Registration is required. STEAM Starters is offered on the second Thursday of the month at Ladner Pioneer Library. Kids, ages 10 to 13 can register for STEAM activities from 3:15 to 4 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at Ladner Pioneer Library. Dec. 21 activities are art and season-inspired flip books.
