It was a night for the business community to come together and celebrate.
Tsawwassen Springs was the venue for the Delta Chamber of Commerce’s 71st Annual Hats Off to Excellence Awards Gala, presented by the Port of Vancouver on Friday evening, Nov. 18.
The awards gala has been used to celebrate the best of Delta since 1951.
Chamber Executive Director Jill McKnight described the night as “wonderful.”
“Being able to celebrate all parts of Delta is incredible,” she said. “What an incredible learning opportunity for all of us in the audience to learn about these businesses that we may not be familiar with. Delta has so much diversity, so much potential to keep growing and it’s fantastic. Delta is the hub of all things.”
She said the awards gala is important to the business community.
“I think one of the presenters touched on the idea that you go in and pour your heart and soul into these businesses but you don’t know if others notice or if it means as much to them as it does to you, so having this opportunity to be recognized and to see other like-minded people is incredible. It’s inspiring and makes you want to keep going and growing,” she said.
In addition to the Citizen of the Year Award, presented this year to Bruce McDonald, six other awards were presented and the winners recognized.
