Black Bond Books’ new location situated in the Ladner Village will be welcoming bookworms and bibliophiles this Friday to browse the shelves of their new location.
After having packed nearly 300 boxes from the previous store of 15 years in Trenant Park Square, the team is moving into the new store this week in preparation of their soft opening.
The new location is larger, which can more easily accommodate events and gatherings when it is safe to do so, and it’s got a whole new refreshed look, says co-owner Cathy Jesson.
“We’ve had our eye on [the Ladner Village] for a few years because we could see the village changing and it’s always been quite at the heart of Ladner … [It’s] just a really nice mix of stores that are there, and we felt we would fit really well there,” she says.
Black Bond Books has been around since 1963 and, today, has six locations throughout the Lower Mainland, but the Ladner store holds a specifically large spot in Jesson’s heart.
“The way the community has embraced us and really supported us over the years, it’s built and built. I mean, now, we’re seeing teenagers who, their moms used to bring them in as toddlers. We’re seeing the whole family, and it’s truly really wonderful to see,” she says.
Jesson also credits the Ladner store’s team, particularly manager Holly Morgan, for how successful and connected the store has been within the community.
To visit the new location of Black Bond Books for their soft opening on Friday, head to 5052 48th Ave. in Ladner.
Their grand opening will be scheduled toward the end of October.
