Ladner Village will be losing a popular and longtime family-run business early in the new year.
After 27 years at their 48th Ave. location, with a combined 125+ years of experience in ladies fashion, the McKnight family have announced South Coast Casuals will be permanently closing in March 2023.
“Thank-you to the incredible community who has embraced and supported us for the past 27 years. It has been an honour and privilege to be a part of the Ladner business community,” said Jill McKnight, who operated the store along with her parents Tracey and Bill McKnight.
“We do not envision selling the store. Over the next four months, our family and sales team look forward to seeing our customers, sharing memories of their experiences at our store and thanking them for allowing us to be a part of your lives.”
The McKnight family has been an integral part of the business community, helping to develop and lead many events such as the immensely popular Ladner Village Market that wrapped up its 26th season back in September.
Jill is now the executive director of the Delta Chamber of Commerce.
“We are staying in the community so we will continue to see you around at community events, at the Ladner Village Market and walking through Ladner Village,” she assured.
In a message to their customers:
“We have been through the highs and lows of this industry. We’ve seen fashion trends make full circles, even those that shouldn’t have come back again. There were a number of considerations in making this decision to close and ultimately what they all come back to is our lives have changed over 27 years; we are all 27 years older, we are all healthy and we are ready to spend time with our grandchildren (niece/nephew), travelling and exploring new skills and opportunities.”
“The experiences we have had in Ladner Village and the fashion industry have been tremendous and we have established several long-term relationships with many of you. Some of our customers have been with us from the very beginning and others have joined us along the way; we are extremely grateful for the support that each of you has shown to South Coast Casuals. Each of you has been paramount in the experiences we have had and the opportunities for growth along the way.”
