The North Delta track project has moved another step closer to completion.
Council last week approved a $361,871 contract for the supply and installation of outdoor athletic equipment for the project.
The civil works component was awarded earlier this summer with site works well underway.
The contract for the supply and installation of surface coatings for the running track and tennis court was also awarded with work getting started on that component as well.
Weather permitting, all track and field works are expected to be completed by the end of 2020, according to the parks, recreation and culture department.
The provincial and federal governments this summer announced $5.8 million in combined funding for the project at North Delta Secondary, which has a total estimated cost of $8 million.
Delta entered into a lease agreement as well as track development agreement with the Delta School District for the site last year.
The project design includes an eight-lane, 400 metre rubberized track surface with lighting, seating, a natural turf infield, as well as other features such as two tennis courts with pickleball court markings and additional parking.
