The B.C. Conservatives have someone to challenge NDP veteran Ravi Kahlon in Delta North in the Oct. 19 B.C. election.

Raj Veauli announced his candidacy earlier this month on the Conservative Party of B.C. website.

Veauli currently serves on the board of the Laxmi Narayan Temple in Surrey. He also has an advanced diploma in web design and programing, has a real estate licence and an engineering degree.

He’s also worked in prominent roles at Staples Canada, Hudson’s Bay and Future Shop.

The website said that he believes in prioritizing economic prosperity, sustainable development, and community empowerment, aiming to see his community flourish, and that he’s a “respected leader in both business and community circles, fostering countless business and community relations over the years.”

Kahlon, B.C.’s housing minister, announced in May that he’s trying to win a third term in the Oct. 19 provincial election.

Kahlon has been elected twice before, in 2017 and 2020.

BC United named its candidate for the riding in April.

Amrit Pal Singh Dhot, who owns the Dhot Group, also volunteers for the Delta school district parents’ advisory council, and volunteers for Scouts Canada, also will run in Delta North.
