Amrit Pal Singh Dhot will be the BC United candidate for Delta North in the October provincial election.

BC United has named its candidate who will take on NDP Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon in the B.C. election, Oct. 19.

Amrit Pal Singh Dhot, who owns the Dhot Group, also volunteers for the Delta school district parents’ advisory council, and volunteers for Scouts Canada, will run in Delta North.

“Starting in 2008, Dhot used his leadership experience in the financial sector to establish his own business, the Dhot Group,” said a BC United news release.

Using his insights from the 2008 financial crisis, he steered the company to prosperity, expanding its reach across various industries, the release said.

“Amrit Dhot’s entrepreneurial business spirit and experience will be an important asset for a BC United-led government, and I am thrilled by his candidacy,” BC United leader Kevin Falcon said.

“I am dedicated to leveraging my experience in the business and financial sectors to drive positive change and get real results for the people of Delta North,” Dhot said. “I’ve heard loud and clear from residents that they are concerned about the NDP’s failure to address the rising cost-of-living crisis and the mounting public safety crisis in our community. I am committed to addressing these issues by delivering real solutions for our community.”

BC United also named lawyer Japreet Lehal as their candidate in Surrey-Newton riding.

The party selected Dhot as the best candidate to represent Delta North, in consultation with the riding association, without opening a nomination process, said BC United communications director Adam Wilson.
