No injuries were reported, but a boat is a total loss following an early morning fire Monday in Ladner Harbour.
Delta Fire Department deputy Chief Brad Wilson said crews responded to Mcneelys Way after a report of a boat fire around 12:41 a.m.
“It was a 38-foot fishing vessel on fire that was moored to a float,” said Wilson. “No other structures were involved. The boat is a total loss.
“We are still investigating, but it does not look suspicious and we don’t have a cause as of yet, but often boat owners leave heaters on these vessels, so that may have been a cause, but we just don’t know at this point. We seem to get a call like this almost every year.”
Delta police were called to provide assistance in the area, but the fire was extinguished prior to police arrival.
