Two Lower Mainland ports, including Deltaport, had to be evacuated last Thursday afternoon after someone called in a bomb threat, which turned out to be a hoax.

At around 4 p.m., someone called the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority head office and alleged there was an explosive at a port authority terminal in Metro Vancouver, but did not specify which one, said

Delta police Staff Sgt. Harj Sidhu.

"So they notified us and they initiated their security protocol, so the ports were evacuated," he said.

After the terminals were evacuated, police moved in to search for any possible explosives. Once the ports were cleared, employees were allowed to return to work.
