Calls from public nab drivers

Delta police were able to take two suspected impaired drivers off the road Wednesday night after both were reported through 911 calls from members of the public.

Delta police were able to take two suspected impaired drivers off the road Wednesday night after both were reported through 911 calls from members of the public.

The first was spotted in the area of Ladner Trunk Road and Harvest Drive just after 10 p.m.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and pulled the driver over. The 49-year-old man exhibited signs of impairment, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he provided breath samples.

He was subsequently released on a promise to appear in court at a later date. Impaired driving charges are pending.

Just over an hour later, police received another report of a possible drunk driver, this time at Ladner Trunk Road and Highway 99.

Officers located the vehicle around 11: 30 p.m. and pulled over the driver, who exhibited multiple symptoms of impairment. He was also arrested and taken to police headquarters to give breath samples.

The 46-year-old was later released on a promise to appear in court and is also facing possible impaired driving charges.
