Chamber accreditation comes with distinction

The Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada has re-accredited the Delta Chamber of Commerce for a three-year period in the large chamber category and "with Distinction" after successfully completing a two-year initial period.

The Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada has re-accredited the Delta Chamber of Commerce for a three-year period in the large chamber category and "with Distinction" after successfully completing a two-year initial period.

This national accreditation means the accredited chamber keeps a strategic focus on core chamber activities, and is recognized for its dependable governance, distinctive brand identity when compared to other business organizations, strong "voice of business" in the local community and active role in national and international policy advocacy.

The letter announcing successful re-accreditation included the comment the Delta Chamber of Commerce continues, "...to demonstrate to the business community within which you operate that your chamber is run in a strategic and professional way and that your operations reflect standards of business excellence."

"What's important to us is, by maintaining this national standard of accreditation, we can assure all chamber members, the rest of the business community, the overall Delta community and chambers throughout Canada that we provide value and service to business," said Delta Chamber of Commerce chair Ian Tait.

"The board, committees, staff, office volunteers and members all should be pleased with this national level recognition," said executive director Peter Roaf. "But it's not just those here today who should be reassured or thanked. There are the many hundreds of people who have built the chamber and served the business community for more than 100 years here in Delta."

The 400-member Delta chamber was the sixth, out of 130 chambers and boards of trade in B.C., to achieve its original accreditation rating in 2009. There are only 17 chambers accredited in Western Canada.
