Children can take part in annual parade, egg hunt

LBA-sponsored events are set for Easter Sunday

Once again the Ladner Business Association is showing its community colours by hosting the annual Easter parade and egg hunt in Ladner Village.

While the LBA hosts several annual events such as the Quilt and Car Show and Breakfast with Santa, this event is not a fundraiser for the organization. It's one of the many ways the organization gives back to the community.

LBA president Brad Cooper of Vancouver Pacific Financial Group said, "While our primary goal is to support local business, we want to acknowledge the broader community for supporting our events. The annual Easter parade is just our way of saying thank you to the people of Ladner."

Event organizer Laura Thomas of Laura Thomas Communications added, "This event is a straight expense for us but we all agree that it's worth it. It's an Easter tradition that the kids love and we plan to continue funding it in the future."

This Easter Sunday, children and families are encouraged to decorate their bikes, wagons, strollers and scooters and be part of the parade as it rolls down Delta Street from the museum to Memorial Park.

Last year, Rev. Jim Short of Ladner United Church led the festivities in the coveted bunny costume.

This year the Delta Police Pipe Band will lead the parade.

The Easter Bunny will be played by local six-footfour-inch cabinet installer Alan Hewson of Alan Installations.

At the park, the children will be invited to take part in an Easter egg hunt co-sponsored by SaveOnFoods.

Meet the Easter Bunny and the pipe band in front of the Delta Museum on Delta Street at 12: 55 p.m. on Sunday, April 8.

Note that motorized vehicles are not allowed and young children should be accompanied by an adult.

The parade begins at 1 p.m. sharp.
