The City of Delta is hosting a public information meeting next week on a revised plan to build more non-market rental housing units in Ladner.

The meeting at the Ladner Community Centre on Tuesday, June 11 will be an opportunity for residents to learn more about the new application for the second phase of the Evergreen Lane project.

The meeting takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The rezoning and development amendment proposal is for a six-storey development containing 138 apartment units for Phase 2 of the project, located at the southern section of the site in 4600-block of Evergreen Lane.

It would include a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units.

The development for seniors, families and inclusive housing for persons with intellectual disabilities was originally a two-phase, 198-unit project. It received final approval two years ago.

The first phase is now under construction and includes 130 housing units in a four-storey apartment building on the north portion of the site.

The revised proposal for the second phase would increase the number of non-market rental units from 68 apartments, with an increase in height from four-storeys.

The revised proposal would need another Official Community Plan (OCP) amendment under the current OCP but would comply with the proposed new OCP that was given preliminary approval by council in April.
