June 12: Go Green Delta book and Film Group, meets at Tsawwassen Library, 7 p.m. to discuss two library books about bees: The Incomparable Honey Bee and The Beekeepers Lament. Local beekeepers in attendance. All are welcome.

On Tuesday, June 18 the South Delta Evergreen Garden Club welcomes Gwen Odermatt from Petals & Butterflies (Langley) who will be on hand to talk about Great Plant Picks. Mountain View Manor is now recruiting Junior Auxiliary Volunteers for an eight-week volunteer placement beginning in July 2013 to end August 2013. Volunteers with exceptional measures of success will be offered to extend their volunteer placements for the duration of the 2013/2014 school year. Seniors

United Way's "Better at Home" program provides non-medical home support services to seniors. We need your help in bringing this program to your community. Fund Raisers

IODE Boundary Bay Chapter has a garage sale fundraiser on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4939-1st Ave. (near English Bluff) Tsawwassen. Join us for coffee and cookies and browse through a wide assortment of anything and everything. All proceeds go towards local charities.

Special Events

Car boot sales hosted by the Cammidge House Volunteers at Boundary Bay Regional Park take place every second and fourth Saturday commencing June 8 at the Centennial Beach Parking lot from 8: 30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. If interested in selling please bring ground sheet or display table etc. Allocated space only $10. Father's Day Breakfast will be held Sunday, June 16 at 9 a.m. to noon at Centennial Beach adjacent to Lions playground. Breakfast will be served from the Lions Club's new mobile kitchen. $6 adults and $3 children. Local band Kindred Spirits will entertain - face painting for children - interactive nature displays-lots of parking available. Large tent will be erected - event proceeds rain or shine. Arts

The ninth annual Ladner Bandfest takes place on Saturday/Sunday, June 8/9 at Memorial Park. There will be 21 bands performing on two separate stages for this two day event with concerts running from 10: 30 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Burgers, fries and drinks will be on sale by the TOOBs service club. The event is free and goes on rain or shine as there are tents to protect the audience from sun or a drop of rain. Please bring your lawn chairs.
