DPD advice for the week: “If you ever find yourself saying to yourself, or, in this case one of our officers, 'I know I shouldn't be driving’, don't drive.”

Files of interest for this week from Delta Police.

Editor’s note: The Crime Beat feature has changed its format. Delta Police will be outlining their calls for service in the community as well, highlighting an issue or issues of concern for residents, along with tips for the public when appropriate to the highlighted topic. This week, DPD is putting the spotlight on ‘the power of social media.’

  • On April 11, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a complainant called to report that a black truck had collided with two vehicles outside their residence in the 7000 block of 119th St. in North Delta. Thankfully no one was injured, but there was significant damage to the unoccupied vehicles. Police posted the video of the vehicle collisions to their social media feeds on April 12. Following the release of that video and post, police received a call from someone who saw the post and knew where the vehicle was located, which was in Surrey. DPD are still investigating the incident. The power of social media. Follow DPD on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook
