The Corporation of Delta is once again teaming up with CUPE Local 454 to protect municipal facilities and parks through the Halloween Patrol.
The patrol is a co-ordinated effort involving the police and fire departments, municipal hall and volunteer members of the civic employees union.
All team members, who will be in municipal vehicles and wearing clothing indicating they work for Delta, will observe and report any trouble or suspicious activity.
They will be out from 6: 30 p.m. to 1: 30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 and again on Halloween night, Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The police and fire departments will be doing their own increased patrols during the Halloween period. In addition, the lights at playing fields will be left on overnight Oct. 26, 27, 28 and 31.
The Halloween Patrol initiative has proved successful in deterring vandalism since it was implemented four years ago. Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call Delta police at 604-946-4411.
