An East Delta greenhouse operation that is focusing on the higher end of the cannabis market has announced its first purchase orders.
Rubicon Organics Inc., which operates a 125,000-square-foot greenhouse on 104th Street, announced that, together with its partner Agro-Greens Natural Products Ltd., received the first orders for the company’s Simply Bare organic brand from both the B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch and National Cannabis Distribution in Saskatchewan.
“We are excited that our certified organic cannabis flower, Simply Bare Organic will be available not only to consumers in our home province of British Columbia, but also in Saskatchewan,” said Jesse McConnell, CEO of Rubicon Organics, in a news release.
“There is a market demand for high-quality and terpene rich cannabis. Simply Bare Organic will meet this consumer need.”
The company notes it expects its product to be available in both provinces in the coming weeks and will expand into additional provinces in the near future.
McConnell told the Optimist in an interview last year they don’t consider themselves a boutique Delta operation, but rather a bigger craft cannabis grower focusing on the higher end of the market.
“We’re trying to do things a little different here. We’re trying to be kind of small batch excellence, that kind of craft community feel. Our approach is to say there’s a commodity end to the spectrum here, but there’s also a really premium end. For people who really love cannabis, that’s the type of product we’re growing. We spend extra time with it. We grow in certified organic soil and manicure the plants in ways a commodity grower wouldn’t really do,” he said.
