The Delta District Parent Advisory Council is looking for parent feedback on the province’s back to school plan.
Chair Joe Muego said they’ve been in consultation with the school district and are planning to submit all parent comments and suggestions by Aug. 18.
“The School District has been grappling with the shifting directives from both the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, and are working on the start of the school year plan, and instruction moving forward. They have asked for any concerns from parents. Obviously, they have been considering the positions of all education partners while dealing with the administrative complexities; however, now is the time to speak up if you haven’t already. Please send any concerns from your own PACs relating to school opening, school plans and student and staff safety to [email protected],” Muego explained on social media.
In a letter to parents last week, district superintendent Doug Sheppard noted timelines are very tight and the district is working over the course of the week to consult with education partners on Delta’s draft plans.
Sheppard noted Delta must submit its plan to the Ministry of Education for approval before Aug. 21.
As soon as the plans are approved by the ministry, the district will provide parents with as much of a comprehensive overview as possible on, or before, Wednesday, Aug. 26.
The government’s plan, so far, is to have kids return to the classroom by Sept. 10 under new COVID-19 guidelines.
