Delta firefighters do more than just put out fires, they also help out whenever needed, such as Monday night in East Ladner when a little horse got stuck in a ditch.

Nearby residents spotted the pony that was stuck and made the call.

“Responding swiftly to the call, Delta firefighters arrived at the scene equipped with the necessary tools and expertise to safely extricate the pony from the precarious situation. With careful coordination and precision, they managed to free the pony from the deep ditch, ensuring its well-being throughout the rescue operation,” the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society said online.

Rescuing horses from ditches can be a frequent thing for some departments, which train for such incidents, sometimes using life-size models of horses.

Horses can succumb to exposure if they spend too long in a ditch.
