The public will have more opportunities to learn more about a proposed large residential project on a busy Delta corridor and provide input this month.
The City of Delta will be hosting four public information meetings on the application to build a mixed-use high-rise development at the Delta Shoppers Mall, located at 8037 to 8087 Scott Road, a proposal that includes four buildings ranging from six-to-32 storeys with 876 residential units.
The proposal also includes 10,572-square-metres of office space, 7,178-square-metres of commercial space as well as childcare space.
According to the city, the rezoning application is consistent with the Official Community Plan, so a public hearing is not required.
Chris Andison, CEO of Value Property Group, at a presentation to council last November described the concept as “a city within a city” with tremendous opportunity.
Located between the Delta Rise residential tower and the Real Canadian Superstore, the site’s current designation is for a mix of uses including retail and office commercial, multiple-family residential, recreation, cultural, public and open space.
A group of residents at the Delta Rise tower expressed opposition and submitted a petition, conveying concerns including traffic impacts. The group also said the project doesn’t conform to the recommendations for the area put forward by the Mayor’s Housing Task Force for Scott Road. Those recommendations have not been formally made into new zoning bylaws by council.

Tuesday, Aug. 15, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the North Delta Recreation Centre gym (11415 84 Ave.)
