The Delta police department is looking for a new deputy chief constable.

The position became vacant when the Surrey Police Board recently announced the hiring of Norm Lipinski, who was Delta’s deputy chief at the time, to be the first chief of that city's new municipal police force.

The City of Delta is advertising to fill the vacancy, stating it is seeking a value-based leader with extensive experience to assume the role.

The ideal candidate will have a distinguished senior policing career and must bring at a minimum 10 years of police leadership, the job posting states.

A demonstrated focus on stakeholder involvement and community partners, as well as demonstrated abilities to build outstanding relationships, both internally and externally, is essential.

The Delta police department has approximately 300 employees.

The closing date for applications is Dec. 20.
