Delta police have been called into investigate after a teenage girl was injured while she was being arrested by Prince Rupert RCMP.

"Delta police major crimes investigators are responding to Prince Rupert, B.C., at the request of the RCMP in relation to an investigation where a 15year-old female sustained injuries during an arrest," Delta police spokesperson Const. Ciaran Feenan said Thursday.

Feenan said the investigative team was scheduled to arrive in Prince Rupert early yesterday morning and take over the investigation.

On April 4, RCMP attended a home in Prince Rupert after a report that a 15-year-old girl wanted to harm herself.

The attending officers confirmed the girl was upset and wanted to take her own life, so they apprehended her under the Mental Health Act.

The girl was injured during the course of the arrest and was taken to hospital for medical attention where it was determined she suffered a broken arm.
