A quick thinking senior recently assisted in getting two scammers arrested.
According to Delta Police, the senior called the department recently to report that two men claiming to be lawyers were en-route to his residence to collect $8,500 from him.
“The senior recognized the scam immediately when he was told by these men that his son was under arrest, and the money was required for lawyers’ fees,” said DPD in a post on their Facebook page. “DPD devised an undercover operation, and two men were arrested.
“More and more seniors are recognizing when they are a target of a scam. Regardless of your age demographic, we encourage you to educate familiarize yourself with common scams. Talk to your friends, neighbours, children and parents about them.”
