Let’s head back to June 14, 1980, when Rock and Roll legend Chuck Berry paid a visit to Ladner.
Berry was the featured performer celebrating the grand opening of the Sunshine Chevrolet Oldsmobile car dealership, located at 6165 Highway 17.
A big crowd was on hand to see the free concert which also featured The Rhythm and Blues All Stars.
Berry is known for such hits as "Maybellene", "Roll Over Beethoven, "Rock and Roll Music" and Johnny B. Goode.
Berry did a lot of touring throughout the decades with his Gibson guitar.
In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Rock Hall said that, after Elvis Presley, only Chuck Berry had more influence on the formation and development of Rock and Roll.
