This 1968 photo in the Optimist showed Soo Long, the last resident of Ladner's former Chinatown.
He lived in one of the last two remaining buildings of the community, which was almost completely wiped out by a fire in the late 1920s.
There are no more buildings standing in Ladner today to remind people that a once vibrant Chinatown community existed.
However, the city had restored a commemorative plaque that was donated by the Chung Chuck family through the Delta Centennial Celebration in 1979.
