Let’s check out the March 1972 pages of the Optimist where an article highlighted an appreciation given to B.C.-born actor Raymond Burr.
The TV star of Ironside, the story of a disabled police chief (the disabled were still referred as a handicap) was also the star of a new series of Workmen’s Compensation Board (WCB) television and radio messages hiring disabled workers.
In appreciation of his cooperation, Cyril Whiter, chairman of WCB, presented Burr with a set of cuff links.
Burr would continue acting through the years, even reprising his role as Perry Mason in TV movies. He died in 1993.
