The City of Delta will address traffic safety concerns about a North Delta street with more signage.
A local resident recently wrote to council conveying concerns about speeds along Nicholson Road including a blind curve making it difficult to see oncoming vehicles, as well as expected heavier traffic once a new condominium project located next door to Scottsdale Centre mall is completed.
The letter writer also questioned the results of a traffic survey.
A staff response noted additional permanent speed limit signs will be posted on Nicholson Road to remind drivers of the speed limit.
Portable speed reader board will also be deployed as an additional reminder.
No further traffic calming or roadway changes were recommended.
Meanwhile, another North Delta roadway where safety concerns have been an issue is to undergo roadway improvements.
Council this summer agreed with an engineering department recommendation to consider funding for the design work required for the McAdam Road Neighbourhood Road Improvement Project.
Built in the 1950s, McAdam Road is a local roadway connecting River Road and Brooke Road.
It has variable pavement widths with gravel shoulders on both sides.
A staff report notes that, similar to many roads throughout Delta, it was built to the standards of the day, with no sidewalks and roadside ditches for managing storm water.
There are just two existing speed humps for traffic calming on that street.
