The Tsawwassen First Nation will open the fifth session of its legislative assembly on Monday at the Tsawwassen Longhouse, 2148 Tsawwassen Dr.

Senator Larry Campbell and provincial Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Mary Polak will help officially open the TFN legislature.

Following the ceremony, the 13 members of the First Nation's government will get down to business.

As a new government in Canada, the TFN says it's breaking ground in First Nation governance, using its self-government jurisdiction to creat a brighter future for its members.

The opening of the TFN legislature will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
