Downed power pole results in shutdown of Highway 99

A downed power pole is said to be the cause of a shutdown on Highway 99 between Highways 17 and 91 in Delta.  

A downed power pole is said to be the cause of a shutdown on Highway 99 between Highways 17 and 91 in Delta.  

The Delta Police Department has reported that a truck crashed into the pole.  

Shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 21), Highway 99 was blocked in both directions while BC Hydro worked to assess and remedy the situation. BC Hydro says it expects their time at the scene to be lengthy. 

Northbound traffic is currently being diverted to the Alex Fraser Bridge, while southbound traffic is using Highway 17 eastbound, also to access the Alex Fraser Bridge. 

There are also massive delays in and around the Massey Tunnel.
