Delta police are arresting protesters at Deltaport Monday morning as they enforce a Supreme Court order issued Sunday night.
Arrests began around 7 a.m. at Delaport as well, Vancouver Police have been making arrests at a protest set up at The Port of Vancouver.
The Red Braid Alliance for Decolonial Socialism, who started the Deltaport protest on Saturday night, said they held the Deltaport blockade for nearly 40 hours.
“There have been 14 arrests & we resisted until the end,” said the group on their Twitter feed. “This isn’t over until Canada respects the sovereignty of the Wet’suwet’en – of all Indigenous nations. We fight on!”
The protests at Deltaport as well as The Port of Vancouver were set up in a show of solidarity for Wet’suwet’en pipeline opponents.
The Optimist has reached out to Delta police for comment on the arrests as well as an update from The Port of Vancouver.
