Dredging of the Fraser River's secondary channels is scheduled to begin Monday.

Dredging will be done in two stages, with the first phase to run for seven weeks through to mid-March. Dredging will resume after the freshet in July and continue until November. The project is intended to re-establish a navigation channel. The channel to be dredged ranges from the confluence of Ladner Reach and Ladner Harbour channel in the west to the Elliott Street wharf in the east.

Approximately 210,000 cubic metres of river bottom is to be removed by clamshell dredging.
