South Delta residents should soon be able to once again book an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot at the Ladner clinic.
That’s according to Fraser Health which provided the Optimist an update late Wednesday afternoon on the city’s two vaccination clinics.
The Delta COVID-19 Testing and Immunization Centre, located at 4470 Clarence Taylor Crescent, next to city hall, was open 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. seven days for immunizations. However, on Monday, Fraser Health’s COVID-19 booking website stated the centre wasn’t currently available for bookings.
It was the same story for several other clinics across the region, although lots of time slots were still available at various other locations.
FHA opened the North Delta immunization clinic, located at the North Delta Recreation Centre (11415 84 Ave.) on Monday and it is operating seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“While additional appointments at the South Delta clinic will be available soon for early April, the North Delta immunization clinic has many appointments available as early as March 29 for eligible people who want to book their COVID-19 vaccine. Check Fraser Health’s 24/7 online booking tool for availability,” the health region said in an emailed response to the Optimist.
FHA also notes that if you are eligible to receive your COVID-19 vaccine, many appointments are also still available at immunization clinics across the region, including same-day appointments.
“We are continuing to monitor the number of COVID-19 vaccine appointments that are being booked at our North Delta and South Delta COVID-19 immunization clinic locations. We have been working with our community partners to arrange transportation solutions to support our residents in getting immunized. At this time, we do not have any additional immunization clinics planned for Delta. We will be monitoring usage of our existing sites and considering future strategies as our vaccine rollout moves forward,” the FHA added.
To help ensure people can access their scheduled appointments as quickly as possible, Fraser Health is asking that people only attend a clinic if they have a booked appointment, only arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment time, bring their BC Services Card/Personal Health Number and photo ID, wear a mask, bring a pen and wear a shirt that can easily roll up to receive the vaccine.
