Delta Fire is still investigating the cause of a fire that gutted a home on River Road in North Delta Tuesday morning.
Approximately 20 firefighters responded to the blaze around 11 a.m. in the 11000 block of River Road near 92A Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames showing from a two-storey house.
“Initially there were thoughts that there were three occupants inside, but fortunately they all made it out,” said Deputy Chief Tim Ipsen. “One person suffered minor smoke inhalation, but was treated on scene. Eventually the roof did collapse. The rest of the afternoon crews were on scene putting out hot spots and mopping up.”
