The support for Nick’s Nooks in North Delta continues to grow.

Last weekend a dedication event was held at Crossroads Church to open up the fourth community Nick’s Nook food pantry.

Nick’s Nook 1 was born from a collaboration of a grassroots group (Magical Hearts) with the United Way’s Hi Neighbour program. All the Nick’s Nooks are dedicated to foster community support and ensure food accessibility for all.

Nick’s Nook 4 is in the back parking lot of Crossroads United Church, near to two seniors’ residences. It will serve as a vital resource for neighbours, particularly those facing financial challenges or with limited access to affordable food options. The pantry will be stocked with a variety of non-perishable food items.

Nick’s Nooks are named after Nickolas Watters, a Sands Secondary student who lost his battle with lung disease at age 18.

Each of the food pantries relies on a group of dedicated volunteers to attend and stock the pantries, with help from businesses, sports groups, schools and other organizations who have stepped up to provide food to keep the pantries stocked. The success of this initiative relies upon the open hearts and generosity of community members and groups.

The Nick’s Nook pantries can be found throughout the communities of North Delta and West Surrey: #1 at Northside Church (11300 84th Avenue), #2 at New Hope Church (11838 88th Avenue), #3 at Sunshine Ridge Church (6230 120th Street) and now the newest Nook at Crossroads, #4 (7655 120th Street – at the back in the northwest corner).
