The Ministry of Health announced Tuesday that individual’s 40-years-old and up can pick up one kit containing five tests every 28 days at no cost.

Free rapid-test kits are now available at participating community pharmacies for folks 40 and older – so long as individuals present their personal health number when picking it up and are coming in at a time they’re not feeling ill.

The Ministry of Health announced Tuesday, that individual’s 40-years-old and up can pick up one kit containing five tests every 28 days at no cost.

If somebody is picking up a test kit on behalf of somebody 40 and older, they will be required to present their name, personal health number and date of birth.

“Individuals should pick up a test kit when not having symptoms of illness to use at a future time when they have symptoms of illness. Guidelines for testing continue to indicate tests should be used for symptomatic individuals,” said the Ministry of Health in a news release.

Seven million tests have been shipped to pharmacy distributors and 1.86 million rapid tests have been dispensed through more than 1,300 pharmacies, as of March 15.

“B.C. is expecting to receive more than four million tests from the federal government in the next three weeks, which will support the province’s strategy to further distribute tests to members of the broader community,” added the Health Ministry.

This increased access to rapid tests follows the lifting of the province’s mask mandate, where people are no longer required to mask in public indoor settings, including public transit.

Here are some of the pharmacies in Delta who, of Wednesday morning, had rapid tests available for free (while supplies last) to folks 40-years-old and up. Some stores are close to running out, so they recommend calling ahead to ensure they still have kits in stock.
