There are lots of programs available for newcomers at Delta libraries.

Your local library in Delta offers free services and guidance to services to newcomers to help them adjust successfully to life in Canada.

Are you an English speaker of other languages looking to improve your language skills? Have fun while you practice! Join George Mackie Library staff for Let’s Talk: Games & Fun for ESOL Speakers on the second Tuesday of the month – June 13, July 11 and Aug. 8 – from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Join fellow newcomers to improve your English at the Ladner Pioneer Library too.

At Conversation Circles, participants speak about and listen to different topics in each session. This program occurs on the second and fourth Sunday of the month – June 11, 25, July 9, 23, Aug. 13, 27 – from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. or Thursdays until June 29 from 6 to 7:15 p.m.

Practice English (or learn a new language) online with Mango Languages, a digital resource that combines everyday conversation skills, memory-building strategies, and interactivity. Or practice read-alongs at TumbleBookLibrary, another digital resource! Find both options at www.fvrl.ca.

A PICS Settlement Worker fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi comes to the George Mackie Library every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 2 to 5 p.m.

Library staff welcomes International students, work permit holders, refugees, refugee claimants, permanent residents and Canadian citizens to bring their questions. Free and confidential services are available if people need help adjusting to their new life, accessing resources or finding support.

Are you a newcomer (or senior) new to computers or who needs to update your skills? Join Ladner Pioneer Library staff to learn Computer Basics.
