On Sunday, June 11, students from Hawthorne Elementary raised $17,080 for BC Children’s Hospital by proudly running and walking 2K and 5K in the RBC Race for Kids.
This fundraising event helps advance medical care for kids across the province by supporting experts at BC Children’s Hospital in their quest to conquer childhood illnesses. The Hawthorne Hawks soared at the opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of children and families with serious and life-long childhood diseases.
“I’m so proud of our Hawthorne Hawks for their passion and commitment to giving back to the hospital that is taking such good care of their friends Tyson (Grade 3), Cooper (Grade 5) and Sarah (Grade 3),” said Grade 3 teacher Jennifer Selles. “They [students] significantly exceeded their goal of $10,000 to be the top fundraiser for the school category. They showed how mighty small can be and there are no limits to what they can achieve. This has been a truly special experience for all of us. It’s so rewarding to know that the efforts of our Hawthorne Hawks will have such a positive impact.”
